DX Lab: ONLINE EXHIBITION INTERACTION DESIGN

‘Colour by numbers’ is an online exhibition of the complete works of Ferdinand Bauer (1760 – 1826). Bauer was an Austrian botanical illustrator who travelled on Matthew Flinders' expedition to Australia.

The colour system Bauer used allowed him to accurately reproduce high fidelity full colour botanical illustrations with extreme accuracy years after viewing a specimen and drawing the initial sketch.

For this design, I use the the artists colour code allowing the user to filter works into groups and explore context for each work.

The user can also drill down to data sets associated with the specimen. Data sets include botanical name, date of registration of the sample and literary context.
